Roofing Slates used In The Historic French Quarter

Roofing slates were mined in Pennsylvania and transported down The Ohio and Mississippi Rivers on rafts and became the roofing material after the disastrous fire of 1795. Each one was individually hand shape. These come from one of the old buildings in the Vieux Carré in the French Quarter and dates back to the late 1700's and early 1800's.
Affixed to each slate is a postcard style art print of a picturesque French Quarter street view.
These will be sold separately
